Hello Janner,
If you have a couple of minutes to spare (really) do a search on my posts, there are a few of them I'm sure you'll find useful. If you get no joy that way come back with a post.

I was out fishing with John Ryan last week, v. lively evening's fishing.
He has a lovely boat out of Clifden, his no. is in the book, again let me know if you can't track him down.

Where around Clifden are you staying?

Float fished Cleggan pier two weeks ago. Had plenty of mackerel, pollock, coalies and scad on mackerel strips. No mullet responded. Was also out with John Brittan. Some lovely red and grey gurnard.

Fished around the area last year for wrasse and rays ,the white lady beacon is brilliant for thornback rays on mackerel , and wrasse using worm or crab, drive out of clifden headin south past the tidal lake , think its the first road on the right go right to the end of the road to a wee pier and the beacon is over the feilds to your right at the mouth of clifden bay fish from the rocks casting into the entrance of the bay ,just watch for the fish diving into the rock and kelp about 30m out .
Wrasse and pollack can be caught beside the lobster farm at Aughrusbeg lough ,you can work your way along the shore to some cracking gullies ,you can pick up some cuckoo wrasse here to .
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.
