I have an old 11 1/2 ft blank rated 2 to 5oz. (Conoflex Mirage 45) It was originally rung for multiplier but I want to re-ring it for fixed spool use. Just for something to do...
I have built one or two beach rods already so I'll worry about ring spacings etc. etc. I just wanted to get a few opinions on the number of rings and sizes for a fixed spool rod. 4 intermediates looks a little sparse to me and there is the school of though that extra rings on a fixed spool rod help the blank load better etc. etc. So I thought I'd open it up for debate and get a few peoples points of view.
Recommended sizes and patterns too would be appreciated!

A 30mm stripper guide is ample as long as you don't have it to near the reel. There is a test that sometimes gives you an idea of how the stripper will work in relation to the rim of the reel.
Put the reel on the rod.....take a piece of line held tight to the tip....this will show you where the cone action is....place the stripper guide onto the rod at a place where the top of the guide touches the line. Depending on the length of the rod, the diameter of the spool face, this will give you some idea of where to place the stripper, if that doesn't work, tape the guides on and take it for a chuck, is the only other method I know of.
