Clare bass marks

I got a good few answers to my previous question on bass marks in north kerry but some of them mean a good deal of traveling. Any clare plugging/spinning marks anyone could recommend? The nearer to Limerick city the better.

I dont know the area much and I hope I dont sound like Im teaching you to suck eggs but that far south i'd personally be looking for an estuary or shallow beach with rocks nearby. You wont go wrong. Stay away from deep water marks. Look for beaches with small rivers running into them etc, all the usual bass haunts.

Half the fun will be trying shallow reef mark and seeing your popper getting smashed at the surface..!

Searching out marks takes alot of petrol and time (which I don't have) to get tides and right conditions. I've been ripped apart by gorse and thorns and not able to walk properly for aweek after falling over rocks when trying places and then I blank. I've a few places in mind but the more help I get to avoid the above the better.

Kilkee... there is some good bass fishing there... so i have been told by the tackle shop owner (the one thats behind the statoil garage) supposed to be some in poulnasherry as well!!!

Donagh, it might be a bit far but there is a place just outside Ballyvaughan. It is a narrow spit/peninsula that you can see from Ballyv. You drive a few miles out the road towards Fanore and you can see the entrance where there is a fishery board sign showing the fish you can catch in the area. The board says you can catch bass here.
I fished there two weeks ago and only managed a few scales. They seem to follow the lure to the shore and then they saw me and scattered. At high tide you are spinning/plugging in very shallow water. It is a mixture of sand and rocky ledges that get covered at high water. There is a good bit of weed but it is easy enough to pull through and I didn't lose any lures. They seemed to follow only the flying cs but it was a very windy day and the water was slightly coloured.

Like Steve said the guy in the statoil in Kilkee who I think you know said that spinning on the Kilrush side of Poulnasherry was good for schoolies.

Give Lurga point a go. Close to Seafield. I plugged there a few times last season.
Fish close in! amongst the kelp beds is where i had must sucess. also if you are prepared to walk the beach there is a rocky outcrop that occasionally hols a bass or two.

I also had a lot of info of mike bourke (the guy in the statoil garage ) he said that theres good bass to be had at kilkee beach where the stream enters the bay if i remember its to the left as you look at the bay from the car park also we had been told about a place called doughmore strand its where the golf course is the guy we spoke to said they are decent size fish caught there not schoolies,but using bait not lures i think he said lugworm the best bait, have fun looking forward to coming back over myself in 3 weeks time :lol: so save some fish for us :)

Thanks for the other info lads. I think poulnasharry generaly produces schoolies (with few large exceptions) and the mark I fish in North kerry gives them out in abundance. What I was hoping to do was break my 3lb pb. On cfb site it mentions lurga point which I was thinking of as a starting point and trying the map from there.
