Fishing Ennareilly beach on Monday evening-- Tactic????

#1 Post by Never mind the pollocks »

Howaya folks. A group of us will be fishing the beach from low water through to high water into the darkness. I am hoping for smoothies? What tactics should I use, are there any features I should look out for etc.

thanks lads. Will post a report with some pics next week

I know theres people out there with much more experience of the place but I'll reply in case no one else gets there before you go. The FB guide says this place fishes best 3 hours either side of high water. I don't know which beach you mean by enereilly but the one I always knew is north of the sign posted one and I'm told this is the better one. The sign posted one I always thought was johnstown beach (maybe I'm wrong). Some people fish just after the barrier here but alot of angler walk a fair ways up the beach as you'll see in a surf indicating a sand bank out there. Tide can be fairly strong here so bring 6oz grips. You might of seen on my last two times fishing the dogs were shoaling in front of me so you may have to bring a good deal of bait. I don't get much of chance to catch big numbers of dogs so don't mind. THe week before my last session a comp had a few ray on this beach. Theres a photo of a angler in the rods and guns shop holding two fine bass caught from here. I've heard rag, plugging or crab and the rocky section to the right of the barrier is the best spot for bass.

Hopefully I haven't steered you in the wrong direction as I haven't fished the place much.
