Shannon ports

#1 Post by Donagh »

Just heard that Foynes port is in for an over haul with a new jetty to be built. A new deep water container terminal is to be built in Ballylongford. Anyone any idea when this is to start?

Donagh,
Just read in the local rag here in Kerry that it will be over the next 5 years. They are starting work in Limerick port first then Foynes so I presume it will be closer to the end of the 5 years.Shannon Development are also looking to develop the coast pretty much the whole way from Ballylongford to Foynes.A good or a bad thing I'm not sure of yet. There are some great marks at Ballylongford. Here's hoping the dredging and construction work don't upset these.

Thanks for the update. It looks like it a while off yet with planning permission, enviromental studies and such. I'm sure there'll be something in the Limerick leader about this. If anyone has any updates on this just keep us informed.
