Greystones South beach, Wicklow, 5th August 2006

#1 Post by John D »

People:Me

Duration:6am until 1pm

Tide:High approx. 9am

Weather:Clear sky. Strong sun. Tiny little breeze.

Bait:fresh rag, frozen sand-eel and some lures.

Rigs:standard two hook. Size 2/0 and 4/0 hooks.

Results:2 coal-fish, 2 launce, 1 flounder and 3 dogfish.

Report:I caught the launce, the flounder and 1 coal-fish on lures. I was very surprised with the flounder on a lure. It was a long silver sand-eel type lure, I can't think of the name of it. I caught the coal-fish on this lure too. I caught the 2 launce on a flying 'C'. I caught the other coal-fish and the 2 dogfish on sand-eel. I caught the other dogfish on rag. I was tired by 1pm so I went home for a kip!

That's the Launce alright. As far as I know they are indeed what you described them as - giant sand-eel. The stamp of coalies isn't bad at all. I'm putting up another report for tonight myself. I must have just missed you today. I arrived at 6 in the evening. What time did you leave at?
