Wexford Holiday homes?

#1 Post by Jon Moloney »

Slightly off topic guys but I have some time off coming up having scoured the net for a reasonably priced abode for a family of 4 for a couple of days I'm stumped (just a bit too expensive).

Anyway the reason I have it in here is that I want to get a bit of fishing done while I'm there (she doesn't know that though...)

So anyone with an inside track or name/info on a cottage or apartment or anything like that would be a big help.

Cheers

Wexford has about 120km of coast-did you have any particular part of it in mind (eg near Gorey, Rosslare, or Duncannon?)

nige: thanks, have had a quick look and theres some noce spots, no prices though so I'll make a list and make some calls.

jd:I suppose close enough to Wexford town (the wifes expecting so need to be close to the hopo), Kilmore area would be nice or about 30k either side of the town.

cheers

There is a camping site at Blackwater in Wexford. Not sure of rates but worth a call and is a great little Bass beach. Have fished it a few times and one of us has always caught a Bass. Best fish off it was a 6Ib that my mate got on a side of mackerel. A surf, even a slight one is crucial unless you are fishing after dark when a free lines squid on a pennel lobbed out works well.
Top 3 lure caught bass 2017 :
10Ib 5 oz
9Ib 2oz
8Ib 11oz

You could try Wexford general hospital spent a few days there about 18yrs ago .After a days drinking me and a m8 thought it would be a good idea to jump off the middle of the bridge on the way over to the campsite.Turned out not to be such a good idea after all but the place was clean, beds are comfortable and staff where second to none(food was crap though)

See what else is available first and only use this as a last resort
