I'm hoping to take my 8 yo son out fishing someday this week.
We live in Belfast so I'm looking for a nearby mark where we can spin/use light float tackle with a good chance of a fish.
I've taken him down to Bangor Pier in the past where has caught (and returned) dozens of small pollack & whiting, but I'd like him to get a mackeral or something else a bit bigger. I've looked at the back of Bangor Pier and the rocks at the Seacliff Road but they both look a bit risky for him to negotiate (same with Orlock).
How accessible is Greys Point and is it worth fishing.
Is Carrickfergus Harbour/Pier worth a throw?
Thanks guys.
ps. I don't want to sound like a girl but if he falls in neither he nor I will be allowed out fishing again for a long time.
Near Belfast?

Re: Near Belfast?
Why not try Black head, Below the light house.
Easy to get to and you are casting into deep water.
I haven't had the time to fish it this season, So i don't know how crowded it is. But i fished for about an hour last week off Carrickfergus pier, and you couldn't move for macky bashers.
