People:VIP, Topbox and myself
Duration:12pm till 1.30am
Tide:HW @ 7pm
Weather:Started out calm but wind picked up and shifted around. Dry
Bait:Rag, Lug, Mackerel, Squid, Sandeel, Crab
Rigs:You name it, we tried it ( Julie broke/lost it ) :D
Results: 2 Wrasse, 1 Coalfish, 1 Dab, 1 Plaice, 2 Congers
Report:Started out on the blue pool, packed as usual. Sea state calm float fishing for Wrasse. Topbox got two Wrasse on the float while I got a Coalie on the bottom. Later got a decent Plaice at range. All this time VIP was busy decimating the rig supply and not catching any fish ( you know how this is going to turn out already )
The wind swung round and the tide picked up very quickly so we had to move off the rock as we had a close call and nearly lost the rods when a big wave came in. Fished on but eventually had to admit defeat as it was getting too dangerous.
Moved round to Portrush harbour and Topbox and myself fished out over the back wall for an hour till dark ( VIP was in the bar ), John caught a nice sized Dab in heaving seas.
Got out the conger gear and tried in the harbour. John caught the first, a small strap of about 3lbs ( not worth weighing ) and Julie got her revenge as she caught her first conger which weighed 9lb 4onz. 8)
Me - congers?? Call it pay back for slabbering
