Hi all
Just wanted to post up my groundbait mix that i use for sea fishing. Worked well for us in the last week in dingle from the rocks in 30 feet of water. In one session (between two of us) we had four wrasse over 5lbs (and 20+ others), seven over 4.57lbs. Pollack to 5lbs, and then congers and doggies after the float fishing died off.
Mix is: brown crumb (coarse fishing groundbait, about 20-25 euro for a 25kg bag), liquidised bread (mixed dry with the crumb, helps soak up the oils), red dye (sensas tracix, i just like the red slick it leaves, very blood like), mackerel or sardine oil when mixing with water.
Additives: mushed up canned sardines (cheap as chips, or whole ones from the chinese shops, €4 for 15 or so), but i tend to use canned as they are packaged in oil which can help the effect.
fish catfood, conger seem to like it (the sardines and catfood are mushed up in a seperate bowl with water and then added to the dry groudbait mix above.
and then chopped up mussel, crab , frozen lug, squid , mack or whatever you have. i freeze the mussel and crab in tubes, topped up with salt water to prevent freezer burn.
can be balled in like when coarse fishing, use this for wrasse when the tide is not too strong to sweep it all away. or hung in a sack to create a slick in the moving tide.(attratcs pollock and conger etc)

i have used loads of ypes and never really found any difference, i think the stink of the jelly and the smell of the meat (whatever part of whatever animal it happens to be :D ) is what attracts the conger. i have used the coshida tuna stuff a lot (even though it only 7% tuna) because it stinks and it has worked.
with canned sardines being so cheap (about 60 cent) thats what i tend to use most, plus bagged frozed sardines, cheap too, and old mack or whatever i have in the freezer.
but all in all i use the canned sards most. €2.50 worth mashed up is enough for a session

How much brown crumb are you using? At 20 euro a 25kg bag your getting it a lot cheaper than I am...
Sea Species(25) bass, codling, whiting, turbot, seatrout, stingray, pollock, coalfish, longspine scorpion, ballan wrasse, dogfish, ling, pouting, poor cod, dab, mackerel, smelt, sandeel, launce, bull huss, painted ray, thick lip mullet, golden grey mullet, rock goby.
