North Kerry, The Estuary, (4-July-2006)

#1 Post by Donagh »

People: Me

Duration:6pm till 10:30pm

Tide: Low at 6:15

Weather: Calm with showers

Bait:squid/mack

Rigs:Pulley penels

Results: around 20 dogs and 7huss (mainly big dog size but 2 to 5lbs)

Report:
Had the first bite half an hour in but didn't start landing fish until I gave the huss a good 30 seconds to take the bait. Fish were all 20 to 50 yards out. Had a 5lb huss and a dog size huss on a penel that really bent the rod through the rocks. Was getting equal number of dogs to huss until it switched to totaly dogs with bites on every cast. As the session went on things slowed and had to wack out the bait for bites getting clean ground doggies. Switched to a new peg and more bites close in for last half an hour with one dog to show. All in all if I missed a good few bites as they had to be left a good while to produce fish.
