Youghal Quay + Ardmore Pier

#1 Post by drseafish »

People:Diarmuid Sheehan + Myself

Duration:1 hr at Youghal + 2 at Ardmore (9-12pm)

Tide: 3.9M (FT @ 7.45pm)

Weather: Clam

Bait: Crab and King rag

Rigs: 1up 1down, 2 hook paternosters, size 1, 2, & 1/0

Results:
Youghal, first cast a flounder on crab (29cm)
The weed coming down river became to much to handle and we moved to Ardmore pier to ensure we had some water to fish into.

Ardmore 1 doggie (crab) and 3 whiting (rag and crab). The whiting were only around 25 cm but as I haven't caught one in a while I was happy enough. Strange no whiting around all winter and they turn up in summer and are been caught to decent size off shore as are lots and lots of good codling. I heard that Coddling were caught at both Monkstown and Cobh last week. Whats going on?

Thought there was something fishy about that weather report  . Talking to a couple of guys collecting peelers last week saying there are codling being taken in Monkstown and Cobh but not of any of a decent size. i got a couple myself a few weeks ago don't know who was more suprised me or the fish :)
