flatfish spot at comber?

#1 Post by rab01 »

i've heard before that there is a really good spot for catching flatties at comber. could anyone confirm this and maybe point me in the right direction so i can give it a bash!! it would be nice to think i could fish for them without having to travel to glenarm and beyond. 8)

there are good flounder on your doorstep,no need to go to comber :? .there are flatties(flounder) all over strangford, best bet is to check it out at low water and look for a channel/river that will get covered at high water then pick an evening filling tide when the fish will hunt about the channel/river as the tide fills.
there`s supposed to be plaice around gunn`s island which i was told you can get onto at low water, but it was a few years ago that i heard that and the trawlers have prob cleaned them out since then :x

thanks for that davy. i've never fished strangford lough even though its close by. always fished the antrim coast. i've always seen what looked like great fishing spots in strangford lough but never took the time to give it a crack. i was just hoping for some hotspots, can't beat local knowledge. thanks again for the reply. :)
