Rubber jig

#1 Post by merv147 »

Has any one ever used them over here I know they use them in the USA for bass fishing the idea is that you fish them on a sandy bottom and they make a stir in the water they are spouse to imitate small crabs I think. I was thinking that they might be good for catching plaice dab and flounder they are on e-bay for $5.99 I think for 2 I can only seem to find them in 8g and 10g would love to get them In like 1 or 2oz. It’s just something that I am experimenting with at the minuet looking at the U.S. fishing lures

I don't think they will be any use for sea fishing Merv.

They might be good for pike fishing.

yea MAC could be used in pike fishing what i plan to do is buy one set take one apart see how its made and modify it maybe even make some 3 and 4oz ones i mean for all you know they could be i killer you can buy the rubber bits separate and maybe mix it up a bit try different colors (black white/red green/blue yellow) and if it doesn't work then its only cost me £10 or so like not a big loss and even then i could go pike fishing with them some time

to be honest i would focus on getting good quality bait eg rag or lug for £10 rather than spend it on them merv....
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

Hey merv,
Do you have a link for these? Let us know if they work, especially if they suit having extra weight added. Always interested in this stuff, £10 of quality bait is all well and good but if I was to exclude lures I'd have to restrict my fishing to weekends - they wouldn't fancy bait kept in the work fridge! Travel rod and a few lures gives you great flex - bass+pollack on the shore, pike inland.
