I saw up on aertel that shannon development have sold the land in ballylongford for a gas terminal. Mentions a deep water jetty which caught my inrerest. I know Tralee bay and EFSA have had poor competitions here but I also saw mention in one of my old SA mags of tope being caught here. THought the point to the right might be worth a shot. Anyone have info on fishing here while its still available?

I would think its kilcolgan strand. I've never fished there but I'm told its had a shannon development planning permission up for years. RTE had a helicopter view of the estuary but they ran by the shoreline at coalhill to past loughill.

Talking about marks on the telly there was an animal welfare documentry going to the house in carrig west beside the gun battery. The old fella there had a donkey needed looking after. I didn't relise anyone lived there. The way they cut it you'd swear there was a decent road out to it.

ya that kilcolgan place is good enough, fishing is best at one spot in particular huss, dogs, ray, straps, whiting the usual species of the estuary over mixed ground. only fished it a couple of times myself tho.

loughill was on the telly? damn missed that.

The point to the right as you look down on the shore from the small car park can fish good for ray dogs huss. either side of low water up to high water is the best time and if there is a southwest wind to put some colour in the water all the better. had ray to 12lb and huss to 10lb with loads of dogs, but in the past few years numbers of fish have gone down even with the dogs. the reason the competitions are bad is because they fish the shoreline straight down from the car park, the only time i've seen this stretch fish good was with a strong southwest wind blowing straight in your face. winner had 19 fish including 3 double figure fish.
