Reel Servicing / Fixing

#1 Post by thirty »

I am lookig to have my reel serviced/fixed. My reel is a penn special senator 3/0. When it comes under pressure now it begins to 'slip'. Does anyone know who I can send my reel to get serviced?
Thanks,
Martin.

is it a problem with the drag not going tight enough?? i think this is a common thing with the 3/0 senators - slight spool slip etc under pressure from bigger fish

Hi thirty, braid will slip on these reels if it not first attached to the spool via a few feet of nylon or Dacron line. Regarding repairs there is only one person that I would recommend and he is Mick Simmons at Penn Servicing. Phone no. (UK) 01386 552949,(Monday to Friday only) give him a ring first and discuss the problem with him.

even with the backing etc it still slips under pressure, its the spool slip, not the line slip on the spool

If it is an early model 112H it may need a set of HT 100 drag washers fitted to the main gear, these were a great improvement on the old washers. Failing that have it checked out by a competent service engineer.
