can anybody help me on this???

hi I was just wondering does anybody have a rough idea when the macks will be in this year?? i was in rorys tackle shop(great shop)and they're thinking end off july!! thats crazy!!i thought in may at least the end of may anyway. but the weather is crap! any suggestions/ideas?

i suppose it will depend in what area you are.

here in sw scot we get them early may so they must be earlier than that in southern ireland.

red bay has them all year.
why does yer last cast always take an hour?

Hiya Ian,
I wouldn't have thought they'd be too far off in Rory's - for the last few years I've been catching the odd few off the shore up until mid-July, but it is only then that you can pretty much guarantee a few per session. Any time up until then can be very hit-and-miss.

Theres mack between malahide and Irelands eye at the moment, was out that way on a boat yesterday and the gannets were dive bombing into them. I ususally start catching mackerel from the shore from around now. All the best with it.

Ive got them in Kerry as early as april but may would be the norm
