Mackerel Fishing

#1 Post by chenz116 »

Heading out with a friend on their boat Monday from dun laoghaire harbour and was hoping to do some mackerel fishing.

Is there anything special i need to know? or is it just anchor up and drop lures?

nothing special at all, unless you know a renowned spot for them. A fishfinder can help locate shoals otherwise its drop your feathers and hope for the best
good to drop your feathers and try at different depths, from the seabed to the surface. if you find them at a certain depth then drop back down to that depth..
no need to drop anchor unless you prefer to, it shouldn't make any real difference
