Summary:
First time out fishing in a couple of years. haven't had the time with a house full of kids! Inspired by some of Gonzo's reports and results over the last few years I have decided to concentrate the fishing efforts on lures for BAss this summer/Autumn around the North Dublin coastline. This type of fishing suits my lifestyle at the moment, family commitments mean I can only realistically get 2/3 hour sessions in at a time with early morning and late evening sessions perfect (before the kids wake up and after they go to bed!
Decided to concentrate my efforts on places or close to places where I had caught Bass previously on bait, so started off fishing the rocks at Portrane, near the small beach and Martello tower. Unfortunately, no fish but great being back out again. I started off using the weighted white sandeel from Berkely, think they are called ‘powerbait’ but kept picking up chunks of weed. Switched over to Rapala and it seemed to work much better, I wasn’t picking up as much weed anyway.
Bitten by the bug and a pocket full of new lures from Swords Angling centre went back out again to the same venue on Tuesday 5th - again no joy. Decided to head down to Rogerstown estuary on Wednesday evening for a couple of hours again no joy BUT will keep at it.
