north coast surf beach

#1 Post by MC »

well I haven't been fishing snice the start of January so I decided to fish a very popular surf beach on the north coast. It was a night time fishing until sun up, coming up to a new moon, light winds and cloud cover, when I got to the beach there was a nice surf running, just enough to stir things up. Filled with hope I headed to my spot on the beach and was soon set up and fishing just before low water, conditions were perfect as I lob my offering of ragworms into the surf tables, I soon had a second rod set up and cast out at distance with sandeel as bait. Not much happened over low water but as the tide filled the rods nodded to the action of the waves and then the crabs started and it was time to change baits every 10 minutes or so. That is how the night progressed as all I did was feed the crabs, I never got a single bite and after 6 and a half hours I called it quits and drove home, cleaned my gear and went to bed. Even though I didn't land anything I really enjoyed the fishing, just being there listening to the waves, watching the rod tips, I managed to zone out from life for a while and relax and that is half the battle

Yes just getting out to fish and breath in the fresh air is nice. Not every session is going to produce fish especially nowadays.Looking forward to getting out myself to start the new season when it warms up a bit.Bit of a fair weather fisherman me.
