Fished from 630pm to 10pm with crab and managed 7 reasonable sized smoothies and beside me were a few people landing mackerel sporadically.

That's good news all round! Were you fishing out at the end or in closer to the Half Moon Club?

Out at the end. Tomorrow I hope to go in the evening with a fly rod and some bread and hopefully there will be as many mullet as there was last night. Never caught them on a fly rod.
