North Dublin 12.08.2022

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 12/08/2022
Where: North Dublin
Who: Myself
Duration: 04:30-06:30
Tides: LW 06:15
Equipment: 10ft Spinning Rod
My Bait: Berkley DEX Long Shot Wakasagi 140mm
Conditions: Flat calm and sunny
Result: 1 Bass

Planned on a little trip out for this morning and ended up staying up all night in anticipation.. so I got to the mark at 4am, threw the waders on and went to pull out my spinning rod, only I had made a critical error and took the top half of my beach rod by mistake, so I had to go back home and grab it.. I made it back out for 4.30am.. I waded out and started casting my new berkley dex lure, and few casts in while the lure was near the surface I see a bass mouth rising and hit the lure but didn't hook up, so I kept at it with full confidence the fish were there and not too long after I hooked into a nice 46cm bass just as the sun rose over the horizon. Stunning morning to be out and finally getting some good fishing in! :D

Nice fishing. I know the feeling. Very hard to sleep when you know you're getting up to fish at dawn.

Lovely fish. Have yet to get a bass on lures and might have to dedicate a bit more time to it.

Cheers Dave, yeah I'd highly recommend it, it's definitely my favourite way to catch them now, there's nothing like feeling a bass hit the lure :D
