North & South Dublin 06.08.2022

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 06/08/2022
Where: North & South Dublin
Who: Myself
Duration: 17:30-20:00 & 23:30-01:00
Tides: HW 18:30 & LW 00:30
Equipment: 10ft Spinning Rod
My Bait: Berkley DEX Long Shot Mackerel 140mm
Conditions: Calm, a little chilly
Result: 1 Bass

Started off fishing from the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire over high tide this evening, got there around 5.30pm and fished at first with plugs over the shallower end were I got a hit from a 1-2lb pollock that didn't hook up. Tried spinning for mackerel for a bit in the deeper water, no joy myself but I did see others catching some! Anyway after blanking there I went home and then back out to a local mark at low tide to try for bass. When I got there the water was like glass and I could hear bass breaking water here and there so I knew there was fish here. A couple of casts in I got a take from a bass, nothing massive but big enough and a nice end to a long blank streak!

Good to have a local mark that produces, sadly I'm too far from the sea to have a local mark, productive or not!
