A swilly pier
with an unexpected day off today, I had the chance of a lie in this morning until 6.30am so went to a local pier last night. The only bait I had was some mackerel in the freezer so I packed one rod and headed out about 11pm. Bait was in the water for 11.30pm and first doggie was landed soon after followed by a second on the next cast. This was the story of the night and I fished until bait ran out at 2am, no rays this time but some big doggies landed. I did get a big slack liner and hooked into something bigger putting up a good scrap, a nice bull huss only for it to spit the bait out at me as I went to land it. Went this morning and restocked the freezer and am already looking forward to my next trip.
