Akios airloop R8

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Akios airloop R8

#1 Post by corbyeire »

Have to say i liked this reel, very smooth action and robust, good to cast, well able to handle a stone of week (not lucky enough to trial it out with a monster fish) - however after 4 months it got a dunk in the sea on saturday when the tripod fell over and now the anti reverse is gone!

has this happened to anyone else with Akios - seems fairly weak for saltwater reel that that is all it would take

You have sand in the anti reverse, needs cleaning.

Happens with Multi's also, even grease will cause them to act up on 525's.

They need fine oil to work correctly.

I dunked a 1000 size reel in fresh water once, needs a full service by Daiwa it was Banjaxed. Not as robust the Fixed Spool as you might expect.
