Best advice I can give you is go to your nearest tackle shop and find out about any local angling clubs, join one of them and you will more than likely meet a great gang of people who will help you enjoy angling more!

Hi. You can search the site's previous posts on any topic you need help with, like lure fishing. Also there's a wealth of angling information on Youtube videos. If you're a reader, Sea Angler magazine is mainly aimed at newcomers to the sport and produces various guides for that sector. But yes, a club or some friendly local anglers would get you sorted out quickest.
Not sure that lure fishing is the best thing to start with, why not buy a few bottom fishing rigs and some bait, and try that? You might catch a bit more.
