Thinking of trying for a sligo shore tope

Hi lads. Just looking for a bit of guidance on whether it's too early to try for a tope from the shore around sligo. I've looked at a few marks and my plan would be to catch a flounder to use as fresh bait . Not sure where to get fresh mack this early in the year. I don't mind putting in the hours but not confident they will be around due to the lovely irish weather. Just wondering if there may be any local tope lads on here that might know, thanks.
