Rush Co. Dublin 13.06.2021

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 13/06/2021
Where: Launching from Rush, Co. Dublin
Who: Myself and Ken.
Duration: 11:00-16:30
High Water: 16:00
Equipment: 6ft 50lb rod, 5ft 20lb rod, 7ft 80lb rod.
Bait/Rig: Peeler Crab, Mackerel, Sandeels, Squid
Conditions: Choppy & Cloudy (was supposed to be the hottest day of the year )
My Result: 7 Smooth Hound, 3 Dogfish, 2 Thornback Ray
Kens Result: 3 Smooth Hound, 2 Dogfish, 2 Thornback Ray

First spot we anchored over mixed ground in hopes of a bullhuss but after a heap of smoothies and dogfish it just wasn't meant to be. We pulled anchor and went off to drift a reef with feathers for mackerel/pollock/coalies but 2 hours of this yielded nothing! so we went to a sandy bank and anchored for another 2 hours were we got a few more smoothies and 4 ray between us, happy days.

That's a decent day, well done. What type of boat do you have, the floor looks very similar to my own. I've a Seahog Sea Jeep.
