My first attempt at a mackeral this year saw nothing for 2 hours then a bite and not only a mackeral but a flounder too
Little strips of mackeral behind floating beads produced a few more.
A lead that gives a little bit of resistance helps set the hook.
Very little happened on the baits fished on the bottom, fishing from my feet out to silly distance stuff on light mainline. The odd mackeral obliged on retrieve and pin whiting made an appearance when the water had some colour in it. Not much in the way of flatfish but that is normal for March.
Homemade 'fishfinder' lead that didn't find many fish.

One thing of interest was a foul hooked herring...
I couldn't catch one despite trying various rigs that fished baits at different distances from the bottom and even throwing around tiny baits with the lrf gear.
One for another day.
