Fanore 11.09.20

#1 Post by jonney »

When: 11/09/2020
Where: Fanore Beach
Duration: 18:30-22:00
Low Water: 18:30
Equipment: 9ft Spinning Rod & 14ft Beach Rod
Bait: Frozen Mack
Conditions: Strong westerly, mostly dry.
Result: Blank

I was hoping to set up float around the rocks on the south of the beach with spinning rod but wind and tide threw it right back to me.
So just the beach rod with pulley rig with single 2/0 and a bottom gripper.
Waves were breaking way out and I had problems getting in behind them.
I switched to a pyramid sinker and the rip sucked it right out, so was probably best not wading anyway.
Large amounts of weed.
Fought for 15min trying to recover a rig from a huge bundle of weed, got it to the last stretch before the 25lb main broke  .
Stayed into the night but in the end visibility was cut to a few meters by a sea spray being kicked up, so I packed it in.
Had one bite during the session that made off with the bait.
