long rods
Hi Garren
Looking at similar myself (well wishful thinking perhaps) and you will find that there are a lot of threads already on this on the forum. If you use the search facility (middle of top line next to album) and put in K2 or long rod you will get lots of excellent feedback. Best not to use K2 or you will get all the posts from the member of the same name - and that a lot!

another alternative the ron thompson x symettry around £50, the powrstick seems a good rod and also has the benefit over the others of having an adjustable reels seat so you can put the reel where it suits you, some of these longer rods have a small problem in putting the reel seat just that small bit too high.
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

16ft 8inch K2 Team Extreme by shakespeare
I have one of the 16' 8" K2 Team extreme Titanium for a couple of years now. These long rods should be a part of every anglers armery.
One of the main advantages of these rods is that you can use very long traces and also snoods. While match angling especially off surf beaches I often use Traces 12 feet long and snoods up to 5 ft long. This enables you to cover more ground and presents your bait more effectively.
The length of these rods enables even the poorest of casters to get a lead over the 100 yard mark with an over head thump. Lighter mainline can be used with these rods in conjunction with a large coned Fixed spool reel, enabling the angler to gain even more yards if needs be. A tapered shockleader is also a good edition if you are using a fixed spool as the leader knot is much smaller and will not clatter off the rings on the way through loosing you distance.

Try Mallarkey's Direct online. Picked up a K2 for ?97 quid +?15 p&p a few weeks back. Tried it out last week (it's bad when you buy a rod and don't even get it out of the bag for a month due to work commitments.....). Put 30 yards onto my cast first chuck with a basic OTG cast compared to my old rod. Chuffed 8) LSD got one as well and he's pretty impressed with it.
