Fished Killoughter yesterday on the flood, from low water up to high and just past it. Started with a good whiting on the first cast. Had regular very small dabs thereafter, a couple of respectable hounds about 4 and 6lb, and a few dogs.
Conditions were very pleasant but the tide was hammering through and there was plenty of weed all the while. Crab activity was savage and whole mackerel were only lasting about 25 minutes. One dogfish skewered itself on an 8/0 intended for tope but that's a new rod christened at least!
Rigs were mostly loop rigs with a mix of rag and small crab baits and pulleys with bigger crab baits or wire traces and mackerel baits. I used squid to protect crab and fish baits a bit longer and it seemed to help prolong them in the water.
