yip, caught a load of them when targeting sea trout with metal spinners. and on the fly too.
just need that run of luck when there are a few cod in the area
was surprised at the fight they put up on the fly rod, great. And they were just wee 1lb+ fish

its good when there is a shoal feeding close in, otherwise you might have to be hoping for one of the red cod that live in the kelp

Yep also caught a fair few cod on lures. Lost one a few years ago whilst fishing dursey sound. Easily a double figure fish ....came to the surface, rolled and the lure came out. It's that one fish that haunts me to this day

Hi vinny Yes lots of them on lures I use pink soft plastics and have also caught them on metal kosters the kelp living red cod go for the s/p's I think it is because of the colour they think it is a mussel which I also use for them quite a lot.

I really like the idea of this. I'm someone who's not too keyed in on lure fishing still, and haven't had much success with it at all (I caught a bass on a lure abroad but nothing at home except mackerel, even though I've went on many lure sessions).
With it being the winter, are bass and cod the only fish one could expect to catch when throwing lures? I remember reading a post about someone catching a flounder on a lure?

Flounder with take small soft plastics bounced along the bottom. You may also catch coalies and Pollack in winter especially down south or west. Need good clarity in the water though
