Glenarm Breakwater 18 March 2006

#1 Post by glengormley-gavin »

People: Me, Conor & spgavin

Duration: 11.00 - 16.00

Tide: HT 13.30

Weather: Strong NE but dry

Bait: Rag, squid sandeel

Rigs: 2 Hook clip down, pennell & spun sandeel

Results: 1 x 3 bearded rockling & 1 plaice

Report:
The NE wind made life difficult and casting even harder

Very little happening all day with most baits coming back untouched.

Young Conor took the 3B Rockling, but it was only 20cm.

I took the plaice (25cm)on 2nd last cast of the day. This is the second plaice I have taken in succession from this mark.

Only one thing left to say..... ROLL ON SUMMER

Cheers Benny - I've lost the will to live

April is only round the corner - I'm an optimist so I know there will be lots of fish :P :P :P

good to see that they are arriving! not that i doubt the fish recognition at all but, are you sure they weren't flounder?
just wondered as a few days on glenarm beach people have shown me the 'plaice' they have caught but they are actually fairly light brown flounder with browny orange spots.

he said all 3 were over just over 30cm, he also had a half decent rockling he figured around 3/4 of a pound caught in close in the weed when he got a birdsnest!! but that was all he caught.
im in half a notion of going either cushendall or portrush this friday if the weather is anyway half decent to give the plaice a throw.
