De Wall - Monkstown

#1 Post by IDPearl »

People:Me + 2!

Duration:10am to 3pm

Tide:low 10am to high

Weather:Rain, rain and more rain - oh, and a bit of wind thrown in!

Bait:Frozen Lug, fresh lug, lug/squid combos.

Rigs:Pulley

Results:Small codling.

Report:

Started fishing at around 10 am and it wasn't too hot. It took a while before the first bite which was a small codling. Joined by Petekd and Donal Domeney later on and Donal was straight into fish - as usual I understand! From that point up to about 2pm, Donal was getting a fish a cast - even when he missed one, he then had 2 fish on the same hook to make up for it on the next cast!

We all manage a few fish between us, but all were small with only a couple over 30cm. Great to be fishing again though after a 3 month break!!

Tried a couple of other places on Sunday, but ended up back at the wall for about 3pm. Donal showed me how to catch fish again!

All in all, a very enjoyable and memorable weekend. Many thanks to Pete and Donal for coming out to play.

Manky weather but glad you enjoyed it mate. Hope yourself and donal did better than us in Youghal yesterday. Myself and phanover fished the Monkstown SAC comp and both blanked apart from 1 tiny coalie to show between the pair of us....not good!

Yougal did not give us any fish, I'm afraid. We could see the guys on the harbour wall packed up early too. Tried another spot on the way back and Donal the master pulled in a couple from there, but it was slow going. That's why we went back to de wall!

One other bit of good news is that on one of the last casts off the wall, on retreiving a fish, I hooked into my previous days crack off and got Donal his 6oz sinker back!
