Boat angling Howth, Dublin

Came across this video on YouTube , what a great bunch of lads!
Plenty of seals and dolphins and seabirds, which means plenty of fish. Not a lot of mackerel about, but that seems to be the norm this year throughout the island. Great to see smoothounds being caught so late in August this far north. This is what it's all about, group of anglers having a blast! Very promising.
Tight lines.

The mackeral are still in plague proportions in galway bay since august! Bait fish still about after having been around for a long time - its almost like the fish have learned to go into the shallow inner bay to avoid being hovered up out at the islands.

Thanks corbyeire, I have been considering a trip to Galway just to catch a few for bait!!! Instead of being forced to buy frozen mackerel for bait, which goes mushy when defrosted!! I have been looking at the posts and responses on here about the mackerel in Galway, very jealous indeed!! I haven't even seen a mackerel being caught this year in or around Dublin.

The amount of money I would save if I could catch a dozen or so......

Thanks dude

Thanks eoghanb .
Were the catches from boat or shore? I've only heard of small sporadic catches from Both! If you have any information on shore caught macks, a PM would be greatly appreciated, thanks again.

The mackeral two weeks ago were from a boat ,but not far from the shore ,the fish in August were from Balbriggan harbour ,there was hundreds caught from the pier every tide for two weeks, skerries was fishing well this year aswell with a good few caught in October ,I've caught mackeral on the bottom with mack strip in November last year might be worth a go ,if no macs you'll pick up whiting small cod and the odd flounder
