Frozen black lug?

#1 Post by del04 »

Hi lads,
Just popped in to my local outdoor store to get a bit of bait for the weekend, and I was shocked by the price of frozen black lug. It's €10.50 for a wrap of maybe 10 worms (if that). What's the ballpark price of these normally? Remember, they're frozen, not fresh.

Cheers.

I am sick of buying ever increasing prices of all kinds of sea baits so this year I decided to get some online and I have found this supplier to be the best and most reliable for freshness and delivery have a look at what you can get = https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&key ... vayzd3je_b . I am not at all for buying online but until the irish suppliers realize that they are vastly overcharging for their product I will continue to go elsewhere.

This one delivers to Ireland but the price of postage is £7.50 so better off buying here. Good price for the worms though, £2.20!!!Image

To be honest I wouldn't put much faith in bait that's been in transit unfrozen for at least a day or two. In regards to something like mackerel anyway, wouldn't it turn to mush? The service from the screenshot above looks to turn out pricier than at home anyway for shipping, although, I have a Parcel Motel Account and by using that I can get it shipped to a nearby locker for a total of 7 euro. But it's complicated and a bit unnecessary. I think I'll be fine buying locally, but I might try it out just once.
Edit: Theres also this site: http://www.onlinebaitsuk.co.uk/
They have decent prices. 11 Euro for a kilo of sandeels ain't bad right? Obviously shipping prices are a thing but it's worth considering maybe? Still have no clue about the quality of the bait upon delivery though.
They also have frozen black lug for £3.95, for 10. I reckon it'd work out cheaper in bulk than at home here. You'd have to be ordering a lot of it to be worth it I reckon.
Just my 2 cents
