Black Head, Clare

#1 Post by pajo »

Hello,

Looking for some info on Black Head Clare.

It's years since I fished it. The last time I was there I had to abandon it with dangerous idiots casting out literally over my head.

I'm wondering what is it fishing like generally in the summer and is there anything doing there at this time of year.

I've generally fished it in July, August September. Plenty of mackerel, dogfish, a few decent pollack and a couple of decent runs from I don't know what. I've never fished it this time of year. Went down once in February and nearly got frostbite!

Please PM if preferable.

Thanks,
Pat

not advisable to fish there this time of year with the swells - plenty of small white fish, but not really worth the risk

it has been steadily getting worse im afraid to say, in both species and numbers

fished out by trawlers and destroyed by louts drinking and throwing rubbish around the place and taking tidlers out of the kelp

Thanks.

That's a terrible shame. I remember going to Black Head in the seventies with my father. It was a beautiful spot and always provided a good day's fishing.
