Arklow - Roadstone

#1 Post by Bolger »

Peter Mc Cartain and my self went fishing in arklow on sunday 22 january, the plan was to try for a three beadrocking.
I got the tide wrong, so we end off fishing the dropping tide all day, in the middle of the day i got a good lean over and it turned out to a conger of about 8 lb, then about two hours later i got another conger about 4-5 lb
We fished till into the dark, but there was no more conger or three bear rockling, we two only two small whiteing and peter lost a strap conger in a snagg.
Bait; used mackeral
Tide; dropping
Trace; one hook trace with a rotton bottom

Over the last two years i have tried about 6 times for a speciem three beard rockling and to date i have not got one near the weight, largest fish was about 3/4 lb

usually a low water and in particular slack water species not that I ever targeted them deliberately... checked the diary and they definitely like low light conditions. HTH.

Just fished this spot at the weekend and the beach had Jellyfish landing on the sand.

Nothing off short and long range casting.

Moved to the pier after 1 hour and fished for 3 hours.

Cast towards the beach(left) produced Dog fish, casting straight out gave us small pollock and casting to sea (right) gave us Dog and Bull Huss.

Noticed strange bubbles coming from under the jetty we were on, possible a conger eel.

Tracked it slow movement but nothing surfaced to bait in the water
