When tying knots in mono or fluorocarbon, especially in lower diameter lines, the mono below the knot tends to curl into a corkscrew shape and tangle around swivels and hooks.
Whenever I finish tying a new rig, I hang it from the ceiling with maybe 12oz of lead on the lead link and on each hook. I leave them for about 24 to 48 hours to stretch.
After that you have nice kink-free rigs that are less prone to tangling.
I know I won't have been the first to figure this out but I hope it will help someone.
Perhaps there is an easier way to do it?

Re: Stretching rigs
It sounds like you have an issue with how you're tying your knots.
Although this crinkled line may straighten out, it has been weakened by poor knot tying technique.
A properly tied knot won't crinkle up the line, if I'm tying a knot and it curls up like that I cut it off and do it again.

Re: Stretching rigs
I generally use the uni knot or grinner and whatever line is around in the correct breaking strain.
Especially with very light breaking strains the line tends to have a slight twist from having been coiled on the spool, this eliminates that.
What knot should I use?

Re: Stretching rigs
You should wet the knot before you pull it tight this will stop the friction that causes the kinks and twists

Re: Stretching rigs
You also have to be gentle getting the knot to rest right before the final tighten. Ease it all together until it's nice and snug and only needs a small bit more to tighten it before you pull it hard.

Re: Stretching rigs
do you find much difference in catches by using fluorocarbon as opposed to ordinary line such as amnesia ???
