People:22 Members Carrickfergus beach & rockers s.a.c.
Duration:5 hours
Tide:outgoing
Weather: dry but very cold in N/E breeze
Bait:rag, lug, mackeral etc
Rigs:three hook flattie rigs also clipped down distance rigs
Results: species caught flounder, turbot, codling, coalfish, rockling, dab, whiting the majority of which were over 200mms but under the club sizes of 250 for flats and 300 for roundfish
Report:A great turnout of club members for this leg, and although all anglers caught fish the majority of which were undersize as club rules are still 250 flatfish and 300 roundfish, Johnny Gilbert won the leg with two flounders 32cm and 30cms Johnny also took the sizeable heaviest fish pool, if we had fished the new 200mms rule the returns would have been astronomical, on a personal note myself and club treasurer bobby laughlin spoilt ourselves by going on a sneaky recon of the area on friday two days before the fixture when we caught two bass both 41cms , i caught a mullet which i have to say was one of the best fights ive had on light tackle in a long time, we also had good size flatties between us a great days fishing at waterfoot but then the inevitable with both me and bobby blanking on the day   a right couple of blankers
well done to johnny an ulster under 21 team member and also to all the juniors that took part in such cold conditions.
