Fished a north kerry strand saturday during low tide up for 2 and half hours with two others with very little in the way of surf. Had hoped the high pressure would have moved further and allowed us some bass fishing but due to the conditions targeted flatties with no success. Moved on to an Estuary for an hour and I picked up a small sea trout and one of the lads had a small flounder of around 10 inchs. I was going to try a deep water rock mark in the Estuary but it may be a little to early yet so maybe pier congering.
Would love to hear of any decent fishing.

Is there anything happening on the Clare coast? I would love some time on rocks with a chance of something, but will probably play around on cappa or carrigholt some night.

Liam I presume the surf has come up with the change in weather conditions. Bass are still being got in clare so I hear. The lack of action is more to do with fishing with no surf in the day light and not having much experience of this type of fishing. I was told the same beach gave good returns in January.
Marno Ray fishing should be available in the marks your asking about but it can be patchy. I was out in cappa this week last year and only had a few small whiting and night before there were a few ray caught. March is usually when things start to heat up on the outer estuary marks.
BTW looking at the fish ID book I think it was a salmon parr I caught as the tail was noticeably forked.

Thanks Donnagh, Will probably give cappa a go at least once. I like it, not a very dramatic place but I can go out at night (family are nodding off so it doesent count as going out  ) and everything is lit up and there are normaly a couple of chatty guys about to pass the time. Do Ray feed at night? I have caught thornies there early morning there in summer.

Hi Marno,
I've only fished cappa pier a couple of times when the fishing was off and fish the clare side very little only when fishing comps and meeting up with people so I can't say when are the best times to fish here. I can't say I like the venue as there are quieter places to fish close to here.
I like many others find Dusk and Dawn when combined with the right tidal conditions are hot times for ray on many marks. The pier is really known as a out and out night time venue and yes rays are caught here at night.
