#1 Post by screeming reels »

People: 3

Duration:8 hours

Tide:ist trip , high to low spring 2nd trip low to high neep

Weather: 1st trip 15kts ne wind lumpy sea, overcast, 2nd trip 5-9kts southerly, overcast and bright slight sea

Bait:mackeral, and lug

Rigs:pink flashers, pirks, gilling,

Results:1st trip,of wrecks, Ling up to 7lbs, lots of pouting 2lb plus, cuckoo wrasse, on drift ,codling to 4lbs,coalfish 2lbs
2nd trip. wrecks, numerous ling up too 12lbs, a couple of pollock to 6lbs, pouting and cuckoo wrasse, drift, ling too 5lbs, dogfish, little else, though spent little time drifting

Report:Ist day out, weather reports looked good, but there was a nagging northeasterly that mad fishing off the hook uncomfortable, with a very fast drift, meaning high tackle loss! so went too wrecks which provided some sport , but again difficult conditions. overal not bad considering the weather, but, not going out again with a n/e wind!!!!
2nd trip, much better, lovely conditions great fishing on the wrecks easy to anchour due to the small tides. Lost a clunking fish on the wreck, certainly felt like a good conger, it bust the split ring on the pirk. drfit fishing poor, no whiting, but again a good few smaller ling they seem to be everywhere!

Screaming Reels,
great to read your post, if ever there was an advert for boat fishing during the winter , this is it. You have raised my spirits.
