    People:3 of us

Duration:5 hours Friday 3 hours saturday

    Tide:incoming and outgoing

    Weather:fine

    Bait:crab

    Rigs: pulleys 2 hook clipped

    Results:codling whiting and flounder

Report:headed down to cork on Fri and after leaving late we arrived in youghal and we're fishing by 7 , spine to the other lad fishing and he had had 2 codling in 2 casts so thought it would be a good night ,,,,,,,, but it was not to be had 1 codling around 1 1/2 pound and a flounder around 30cm not a bad start had 1 more flounder then nothing else until the last cast when I brought in a codling around the same size ...... There was 5 others fishing and they didn't catch anything all evening ... also got talking to a few lads who had been fishing the beach and they had all blanked .

had a few crab left over so headed down to monkstown fished for about 2 hours with no fish then met another angler who had been fishing just around the corner and had had 14 codling in 3 hours so after a quick run down we got set up and started fishing with only 1 crab left had 1 codling down there and that was it

think the lads were right and the rainwater had pushed the fish out ....sure we'll know for again

thanks to all the lads who helped us out on the forum ye were a great help

    Hello Conor

Its a great place to be conor when the fish are about, but i would also fish in Ballycrennan or Ballywillan which are two beachs not far from the Garryvoe Hotel in east cork also,i used to fish these beaches when i was in the navy before i came back to Galway armed with good fat lug and crabs i used to get great fish there, also in garryvoe beach over beside the pipe in front of the hotel is another good spot,if your going down again PM me and ill find out how things are fishing down there as iv still got contacts in midleton who still fish them areas.

Friday was probably about the worst day you could have chosen to fish in Youghal. There was a torrent of fresh water coming down the Blackwater. Even on Sunday there was still a big flow of flood water. The Blackwater has a huge catchment area and after the rain we had on Thursday it would need about 5 days for the fresh water levels in the river to return to normal.
