Glenarm Beach 30 Jan 06

#1 Post by glengormley-gavin »

People: Me and the bro

Duration: 1900 - 2300

Tide: HT 2230 ish

Weather: Pleasant - no rain, no wind 5'c

Bait: Rag and sandeels

Rigs: 3 hook flappers & booms in close, clipped down pulley for distance

Results: 1 rockling, 1 codling & 1 coalie (all small)

Report:
We had a bag of rag left from Sunday, so after a quick bite to eat after work we headed up to Glenarm. We had left a full pack of sandeels at the Breakwater on Sunday, the idea was to let the next angler have some free bait, we stopped off on the way to the beach and the sandeels were still there

We fished the beach from the front of the police station both at close range and distance. On a number of occassions we both had some seriously big knocks but no takers - when the line was retrieved, the sandeels had been hammered by something big but no fish were hooked!!!!!

We caught a few small fish but nothing to write home about.

Lets hope things pick up for the club comp this Sunday :!: :!:

I'll be keeping an eye out for you on Sunday Eddie - it'll be easy to spot Fergie, you can always hear him before you see him :D :D

The Antrim coast has been poor over the past few weeks, let's hope it picks up again.

You looking forward to Sunday??

Me and Fergie were also out fishing along the antrim coast last sunday.
Around the Cushendal area. Very poor catches, Nothing using bait and only small coalies using spinners
But look on the bright side, Its not going to take much to win the comp'
One reasonable fish may even do it 8)

Too right mate!!!

I'm packing a spinning rod anyway.

What type of lures were you getting the coalies on?

I hear Tesco's is good for fish at this time. Remind Fergie to remove the bar code otherwise we might have to disqualify him this time

Apparently Fergie knows somewhere where you can bag up with fish at this time of the year. :? Apparently it's somewhere called Iceland! Too far to travel I say

Good luck all on Sunday and wrap up warm, you'll need too. I've seen monkeys with welders around waterfoot this week
