Ballycarry

Hi,

Has anyone ever fished the estuary at Ballycarry ? I friend in work swears blind he fished of bridge just past the Railway Station and caught loads of flat fish ( he can't remember what sort tho ! ) some of them well over the 2lb mark. I've seen the spot in question when the tide is out and it's just flat mud banks so possibly flattie territory. He claims this was about 6 or 7 years.
I would love to try it out but I thought I'd better ask about first........don't want to look a complete twit !

hi dobe
i have fished here but not in the last 2 years, used to get plenty of flounders to 3lb best to find the channel at low tide +cast into it as tide fills as fish run the channel + rarely leave it beware the crabs its loaded with them so no fish baits.

Cheers for reply Rab, will give it ago sometime this year as it's pretty close to home. I suppose it's to early in the year to try it yet ?

flounders are here all year but bigger numbers april on,last feb i fished into the lough at maghramourne quarry couldn;t get thru the crabs so no fish , maybe i wasnt in the channel, will have to try again as looked the business
