Kerry undulate

#1 Post by Wrasseputin »

People: Me, Joe White and John Joe sheehan

Duration: 10-3am

Tide: rising

Weather: beautiful night

Bait: lug and sandeel

Rigs: pulleys, clipped down, flappers

Results: dogfish, whiting, eel and undulate ray

Got bait off John Joe and he offered to fish with us. went to one mark but the crabs were making it unfishable so off again to next place and it was a quiet enough night till i got a small bite then the rod went round, 7.25lb undulate ray. Nice one.

the tagging is done to monitor populations of ray, the undulate especially is a very localized species in Ireland mostly only found in Tralee bay. The tag is small and very light and bears a serial number. Info gathered this way can be used to monitor growth, fish movements etc. I hope that helps thanks for asking mate.

And thanks lads for all the input
