Wexford Blank 18-06-14

Decided to head down to Wexford in search of my First Bass of the Season and my second one since starting.
Unfortunetly the weather yesterday was a scrorcher 28 where I was and Sea was Flat calm. This resulted into no takes or hookups.
Got talking to a local chap who was out walking and told me I had a better chance further up the point which I will fish next time in search of my second Bass.
He said it was a bit too earlyt for Bass on this part of the coast.

Do certain parts of Wexford fish better than others in the earlier part of the season?
Any help in catching my second Bass is appreciated :-)

I find the south coast of wexford fishes best about August for bass when there is a bit of roll on the sea using big lugworm baits

Can be a challenge getting a bass on a lure mid day in very sunny conditions, by no means impossible. If its a lure caught bass you are after then it is worth trying after dark, esp after a calm sunny day. Also if its calm look for a mark that has some sort of tidal run on it, usually at the turning of the tide some marks can have a run for about 30 mins. If there was a point on the mark thats always the first palce I try. Flat calm sunny featureless marks are tough so I wouldnt be too disheartened that you blanked, but sometimes these marks come alive after dark.

Thanks Eohgan. The mark is certainly not featureless. A reef I caught my first Bass on last year mid day also tho in October on an overcast day!
It does seem that there is more success to be had after dark. Unfortunetly I am travelling from Dublin and go whenever I can. I will aim to try night time fishing next time to see if success rate is increased.

Thanks

Colin
