#1 Post by davwin »

hi lads. can anyone point me to a web site that has a clear demonstration on how to pendulum cast. I dont have the experience to do it. I have seen one clip, but its to fast to study and a written discription is pretty confusing. Hope you can help

Hi,

Imasa may be no more but the members are still around and many of them used to attend their casting events. I believe the guy who ran it now lives in Wicklow somewhere and has posted on this site. He will probably be at the angling show in Swords, i've been told he usually puts on casting demo's there. Any of the Dublin tackle shops should be able to put you in contact with him. I believe there are one or two others living down the east coast.

A friend told me of someone who used to teach casting from Oilgate, Wexford. I don't know the mans name though. Mabye others might.

i bought the John Holden Casting video a few years back, really helped the cast style even if it is a bit old style with john looking very young indeed! Could never really get it from looking at the pictures or video clips on the web...got it from veals...not sure if they still have em

Veals do them, I got one a couple of months back. About ?14 quid, if I remember. Well worth the money, I thought.

The section on doing it wrong looked like me casting.....

And yes, it does look a bit like one of those Open University lectures that used to be on TV at 2 in the morning, but the sequences of developing from basic OTG cast to the pendulum were good.

A clip on the internet isn't going to do much for you. You'd be better off getting Neil Mckellows Video or John Holdens cd rom but saying that I've seen neither.

I did find this information from John Holdens site excellent:

http://www.johnholden.co.uk/basics/how_to_cast.html

This was very helful after I went to a casting intructor first to learn the otg and then a simple pendulmn style. Remember its pointless trying to cast pendulmn if you don't have the OTG cast mastered.
