Bioblitz 23/24th May Howth

#1 Post by corbyeire »

Anyone interested in a mini bash on either of those dates?

the bioblitz is on those days where different ways of measuring biodiversity will be on display to get the public more involved

catching and recording minis and adding them to the website building a database is what its all about

anyone interested send me a pm

thanks

No restrictions that I'm aware of but 2 hours either sided of high tide is best from an access point perspective on the west pier. High is 8.45am and 9.30pm on the Saturday.

At the very top of the east pier there are rock pools exposed at low tide. On a really calm day with a westerly wind you could work around the fringes of these for minis from close to shore in pair of boots. I've never seen anybody fishing them though. I'd be interested to hear of any hazards as not sure how safe it is

Let us know how you get on, maybe set one up for the bandstand pier in dun laoghaire... Lots of LRF fish around there.

This has been cancelled due to lack of interest/support - it seems like no one was willing to get up early on a saturday morning to help out - missed oppurtunity. the tides and winds dont help either. thanks for the replies

hi viper, the intention was to take part in the bioblitz - if you do catch a bunch of minis down there you can submit a record yourself to the biodiveristy data centre, at any time, here

http://records.biodiversityireland.ie/s ... saFishSite

thanks for the interest
